During this time of social media detoxing, I've begun reading the book Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. I'm still only in the beginning, but the book portrays a philosophy of how less can be more when it comes to social media usage. There's power in focused times of effort as the book provides a framework of how you can gain your attention back and build purposeful habits.
While I still have a lot to learn, I believe forming a philosophy around digital usage is a key to make this detox last beyond 30 days. These amazing tools provide a lot of value but also a lot of distraction, and there needs to be something deep inside of me that has a clear vision of how I approach using these tools; otherwise their intelligence will compromise my will power and habitual abilities.
